Sculptural 18th century Italian hand-carved, figurative crossbones mounted on fossil rock coral base.
The 18th century crossbone fragment originally came from a historical church in Italy. It was once part of the base of a crucifix and possibly with a skull. It represents Christ's victory over death. It is mounted on the coordinating fossil rock coral which emulates the color of the middle of the crossbone.
Together, the elements create a gothic, historical, and organic work of art.
