19th century Italian Madonna textile banner with 18th century gilded and hand-carved tassels. The piece is based on a famous painting, "Madonna of the Olive Tree" (Quasi oliva speciosa in campis), painted by Italian artist Nicolò Barabino in 1887, is a celebrated 19th-century religious work depicting Mary and the Baby Jesus, with the child holding an olive branch. Barabino was a Ligurian painter famous for many historical and religious scenes including this painting.

The portrait was replicated as an oleograph (or chromolithograph) which is a multi-color print produced through lithography, popular from the 1860s to early 1900s to replicate oil paintings on canvas. The oleograph is mounted onto the fabric backing and framed with original woven braid and fringe at the bottom. It is designed for wall hanging featuring a brass bar. The piece creates a sacred and historical work of art.
