18th century Italian Carrara marble angel in a bleached turtle shell mounted on a polished alabaster base.
The bleached turtle shell emulates a bath for the angel. The angel is crafted with Carrara marble, or Luna marble. A type of white or blue-grey marble that has been used since the time of Ancient Rome. Known as the marble city, Carrara is located in the Apuan Riviera in Northern Tuscany. The base is a symmetrical, polished piece of Alabaster.
The elements are put together in a sculptural, figurative form - creating a contemporary work of organic and old.
