17th century Italian hand-sculpted plaster angel head with coordinating peridot on lucite frame with natural forming emerald and mica. The angelic face has been naturally distressed with age and was originally from a sculptural relief on an interior church wall in Italy. The peridot has been added to emphasize the missing edges of the angel face. The lucite slab has been surrounded with organic formed emerald and mica and coordinates with the green pigments of the putto.
The Italian angel face has been joined with the natural elements to create a sculptural work of organic and old. Together, the pieces create a contemporary yet historically significant work of art.
