A pair of 18th-century Italian gold leaf candlestick tops with polished agate coral and baroque pearls. The hand-carved, gold leaf candlestick tops originally came from a pair of candlesticks from a church in Tuscany. They stand on the candlesticks' original metal drip pan trays.
A coordinating pair of agate corals are mounted onto the candlestick tops. Agate coral is Florida's state stone and is known for its unique formation that can take place over 20 million years. It's a natural gemstone that is created when coral is gradually replaced with agate. These then go through a 48-hour polishing process to achieve the effect.
The pair of Italian church candlestick top artifacts, agate coral, and baroque pearls are put together in a sculptural form - creating a pair that appears to have evolved together over time. Interpreting the past to create pieces entirely original, evolving in their own right.
