18th century Italian fragment set into a sculpted canvas with strata of oil paint layers, and finished with Italian raw umber glaze and pozzolana (dry ground volcanic ash) for aging. Together, the elements create a contemporary work of old and new.
The piece was created by the artist Elena Rousseau for Interi. Elena Rousseau is a mixed media artist seeking to describe the defiant beauty and spectral opulence of the human spirit through abstract and intricate wall sculptures.
