18th century Italian crown adorned with citrine, fluorite, aquamarine, and a baroque pearl finial. The crown once came from an important church in Italy and was possibly created for a depiction of Mary or "Madonna." The orange and blue gems and minerals bring out the original colors of the crown and look as though they grew from the artifact. Together the artifact and minerals create a historical yet contemporary, sculptural work of art.
