The gilded bases originally came from a pair of hand-carved vases from a historical church in Italy. They are mounted with a pair of fossil agate coral that are polished by hand. Agate coral is Florida's state stone and is known for its unique formation that can take place over 20 million years. It's a natural gemstone that is created when prehistoric coral is gradually replaced with agate. The gilded scroll fragments are 18th century and originally from Italy and adorn the fossil agate coral. Crushed fossil shells The polished agate slices also adorn the bases of the pair of artifacts.
