Desert Rose Selenite on a lucite stand. Selenite "Desert Rose" specimens are rosette formations of crystal clusters of gypsum of barite which contain sand grains. The 'petals' fan open in radiating flattened crystal clusters. The crystals developed in arid, sandy conditions forming the usually large Desert Rose mineral.
