18th-century Italian candlestick top with polished agate coral and a coordinating silver-leaf shell.
The hand-carved, 18th century candlestick top originally came from a candlestick from a church in Tuscany. It is mounted with the agate coral which is Florida's state stone. It is known for its unique formation that can take place over 20 million years. It's a natural gemstone that is created when coral is gradually replaced with agate. These then go through a 48-hour polishing process to achieve the effect.
The Italian church candlestick top artifact, agate coral, and silver-leaf are put together in a miniature sculptural form - creating a piece that appears to have evolved together over time. Interpreting the past to create a piece entirely original, evolving in its own right.
