17th century Italian hand-carved gilded angel mounted on green malachite with red phantom quartz crystals and gilded fragments. The hand-carved angel was once part of a heavenly, angelic depiction in a historical church in Tuscany. The figure features a classical baroque pose typical of its position in a church.

The angel rests on the malachite base which is also supported by coordinating ornate gilded feet decorated with malachite and red phantom quartz crystals. The red phantom quartz are a rare type of quartz crystal highly prized by collectors as mineral specimens and for its unique, aesthetic, visual appearance. The wings have contrasting green and burgundy gilding that emulate the color of the malachite and the red phantom crystals.

The Italian angel has been joined with the natural elements to create a figurative, sculptural work of old and new - creating a piece that appears to have evolved together over time. Interpreting the past to create a piece entirely original, evolving in its own right.
