The pair hand-carved gilded and gilded angel wings are originally from a historical church in Italy. The yellow and grey calcite crystal cluster in matrix are rare formations and they replicate the color of the angel wings. The geometric shapes also complement the form of the pair of angelic artifacts.
The Italian angel wings have been transformed mounted on the rare organic elements to create sculptural works of old and new - creating a pair that appears to have evolved together over time. Through the preservation of the ecclesiastical artifacts, they still carry historical prominence while being transformed and mounted with the natural specimens to create a sculptural and figurative pair of organic and old.
