The history of Aubusson textiles dates back to the 14th century. The town of Aubusson is located in the La Marche area of France and it became famous for its distinctive tapestries and textiles that reflected the height of contemporary design. Using 600 year old techniques, these hand-woven Aubusson designs showcased great diversity in themes, including depictions of religious, pastoral, and floral patterns.

The piece is put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she transformed the piece and the period shows the French panel is originally 18th Century.
