Pair of 17th century Italian wood angel heads and original textile foliage with sun-ray fragments mounted on antique mercury glass mirrors.
Originally from a church in Tuscany, each artifact has been hand carved and naturally distressed with age. The angel faces are topped with antique textile foliage original to the angels. Each face is framed with sun-ray fragments. This type of fragment is found in artistic depictions of bright light, surrounding heavenly objects like sacred hearts or images of Mary. The fragments have been mounted onto coordinating antique mercury mirrors to create symmetrical and historical works of art, appearing as if they evolved together over time.
