Black polished abalone shell on obsidian with baroque pearls.

Abalone shells are known for their iridescent and pearlescent features. This rare form of abalone has a mostly black outer shell which is hard to come by and coordinates with the obsidian. Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass produced when lava flowing from a volcano cools rapidly with minimum crystal growth. This creates its free-forming shape and sleek finish. The baroque pearls adorn the piece and perfectly coordinate with the pearlescent abalone shell.

Interi transforms Italian artifacts and minerals using artistic methods and contemporary interpretations. The abalone shell is mounted onto the obsidian and adorned with baroque pearls to create an organic modern sculptural piece.
