18th century Italian gold sunray fragment with tangerine crystal quartz points on a polished optical calcite base. The hand-carved, hand-painted wood fragment sunray was once part of an angelic, heavenly depiction or halo motif in an Italian church. The crystal points coordinate perfectly with the original layer of red bole on the fragment along with the phantom hues of orange and red in the calcite base.
The fragment artifact has been joined with the natural elements to create an organic, and contemporary yet historically significant works of art.
