18th-century Italian mecca arrow decorated with a baroque pearl on a polished calcite base. The arrow was once used as part of a decorative motif in artistic depictions (most likely of Saint Sebastian) in historic Italian churches. It is hand-carved and hand-painted with mecca gold paint. It is mounted on the polished calcite base and adorned with a natural-forming baroque pearl.
The piece has been combined with the polished calcite and baroque pearl to create a historically significant yet contemporary work of old and new.
