Pair of 18th century Italian gold leaf finials with aragonite in matrix and baroque pearls on two hand-painted gallery 1-inch canvases. The canvases are distressed with gold powders used by restorers in Italy that are no longer available. The color and texture of the fragment artifacts coordinate with the aragonite in matrix and gold powders.
The pair of Italian artifacts, aragonite, and baroque pearls are mounted onto the gold powdered canvases and put together to create 3D sculptural wall pieces. The pieces appear to have evolved together over time - Interpreting the past to create historical yet contemporary works entirely original, evolving in their own right.
