18th century Italian fragment with gold leaf shells and gold-plated crystals on a hand-painted gallery 1-inch canvas. The canvas is distressed with gold leaf powders used by restorers in Italy in the 18th and 19th centuries. They are no longer available. The powders coordinate with the gold leaf shells. The 18th century fragment is originally from Liguria.

The Italian artifact, gold leaf shells, and gold-plated crystals are mounted onto the gold powdered canvas and put together to create a 3D sculptural wall piece. The piece appears to have evolved together over time - Interpreting the past to create historical yet contemporary work entirely original, evolving in its own right.
