18th century Italian hand-carved angel holding in one hand a Herkimer diamond with a centered single gold pearl and resting on a coordinating gold Mica in matrix.
The angel artifact was once a part of a heavenly depiction in a historic church in Italy, showing its original applied bole layer on the back. The double terminated Herkimer quartz crystals are known for their faceting and resemblance to a natural diamond without needing to be cut or polished.
The Italian angel has been joined with the natural elements to appear as if they evolved together over time, creating an organic sculptural work of old and new.
