18th century Italian hand-carved gold leaf angel mounted on white aragonite. The hand-carved angel was once part of a heavenly, angelic depiction in a historic church in Tuscany and is holding a string of natural forming baroque pearls.
The aragonite is from Morocco and has many different formations. This one in particular emulates a cloud which compliments the 18th century Italian gilded angel.
The Italian angel has been joined with the natural elements to create a sculptural work of old and new - creating a piece that appears to have evolved together over time. Interpreting the past to create a piece entirely original, evolving in its own right.
