19th century Italian hand-carved gilded angels mounted aragonite.
The hand-carved angels were once part of a heavenly, angelic depiction in a historic church in Tuscany. The aragonite is from Morocco and has many different formations. This one in particular emulates a cloud which compliments the 18th century Italian gilded angels.
The Italian angels have been joined with the natural specimen to create a sculptural work of art. The figurative sculpture incorporates the historical ecclesiastical artifacts from the past with the organic to preserve the importance of the pieces while creating a contemporary work of art.
