Sculptural 18th century Italian metal eucharist chalice with tangerine quartz crystals on a selenite slab.
The Italian chalice fragment original came from an Italian church and symbolizes the eucharist. It is adorned with the tangerine quartz crystals and is placed onto the selenite slab. Selenite is a transparent mineral that is a form of gypsum. It was used to create the windows of the Santa Sabina Basilica in Rome, Italy during the 5th century, hence the name "Window Pane Selenite."
The elements create a unique piece of old and new. The chic and sleek mineral specimen combined with the Italian chalice creates a historical yet contemporary work of art. Rococo meets organic modern.
