18th century Italian gold leaf sunray mounted on pyrophyllite and adorned with polished faceted citrine.
The 18th century gold leaf sunray originally came from a church and was probably used as a sunray in an artistic heavenly depiction in a historic Italian church.The red bole shows through the gold leaf and coordinates with the pyrophyllite.
The piece has been combined with the pyrophyllite and faceted citrine to create a contemporary work of old and new.
