18th century Italian gold leaf sunray mounted on pyrophyllite with titanium quartz. The 18th century gold leaf sunray originally came from a church and was probably used in a halo motif as part of an artistic depiction of a religious figure or crucifix in a historic Italian church.

The piece has been combined with the pyrophyllite and titanium to create a contemporary work of old and new.
