18th century Italian sunrays with gold-plated kyanite mounted on aragonite.
The 18th century gold leaf sunrays were originally part of a halo or sunburst motif in an artistic depiction in a historic church. They are mounted onto the white aragonite to emulate sunrays beaming from a cloud.
Together, the elements create a historic yet contemporary and figurative work of old and new.
