18th century Italian gold leaf sunray with natural-forming baroque pearls on a white aragonite crystal cluster.

The sunray once served as a decorative motif surrounding halos around figures and crucifixes in religious art. Now, the combination of the sunray artifact, aragonite, and baroque pearls are resurrected into a new work of art of old and new. The aragonite emulates a cloud with the fragment appearing as a beam of lighting bursting from the mineral. The artifact and mineral create a historically significant yet modern piece that appears to have evolved together over time.
