18th century Italian fragment with coordinating natural shells, hand-applied gold leaf barnacles and shells, gold-plated chalcedony rosettes and crystal points, fused glass, and pyrite on a hand-painted gallery 1-inch canvas. The canvas is distressed with gold powders used by restorers in Italy in the 18th and 19th century. These powders are no longer available.

The 18th century fragment originally came from a church in Tuscany. The Italian artifact and various minerals and shells are mounted onto the gold powdered canvas and put together to create a 3D sculptural wall piece. The piece appears to have evolved together over time - Interpreting the past to create historical yet contemporary work entirely original, evolving in its own right.
